Jamie Stevens Salon

Kristin helps stylists with shampooing clients, preparing them for colour, rebooking them and ensuring the salon runs smoothly. She has been an apprentice at Jamie Stevens Salon for nearly 2 years now. She’s a very important player in the Team and will always go above and beyond to play her part in the salon. Even if it’s on her day off and must travel the distance we can always rely on Kristin to show and help us.

Within the salon she helps stylists with shampooing clients, preparing them for colour, rebooking them and carrying out various other hairdressing services. As an assistant, Kristen is a vital part of how smoothly the salon runs as she allows the stylists to have booked up columns without running behind, whilst also keeping the salon tidy and always maintaining a professional service. She is paramount to the day to day running of the salon, not just because of her high skill level but also her ambience and professionalism. She has a genuine rapport with our clients who are as excited as we are to see her prosper and grow. Her drive, personal commitment and hard work to her career has been the backbone to her success. Always willing to learn and making it a fun experience at the same time.

As well as going to a specialist academy once a week, she also trains weekly within the salon with her in-salon-trainer, John. They train on models and dolls heads weekly; this helps her feel more confident when going into the academy and shows her what it would be like to be a stylist on the shop floor within her salon. They try to fit in at least 7-10 hours a week of training within the salon. She goes through different cutting techniques and shapes with John as he specialises in ladies and gents cutting and blow drying. Colour training is with Tasha as she is a colour specialist. Often, when we find a break in the day, we will do additional training, whether that be theory or practical. Her experience being an apprentice has helped prepare her for her future career within the salon because it helps her get more comfortable with clients and learn how to interact with other stylists, also the day to day running of the salon.

She’s already built a mini clientele with locals for model night too. Recently Kristin assisted me on 2 photoshoots, this was a fantastic experience to be involved in and really demonstrated how much of a passion she has for her trade. We are all excited to see Kristin on the Salon floor next year. She is so excited to qualify and spend time working on the shop floor. One day she would love to specialise in colour and extensions and to be doing private campaigns around the world. Currently, she loves doing models and clients within the salon and in the academy as it is preparing her to get qualified which she can’t wait for so she can then begin to build up her own column and career.
