Sage

Nina's role involves supporting internal and external customers and colleagues and provides the opportunity to gain exposure to the Internal Communications Corporate Affairs team and other areas of the business globally, to support the execution of internal communications activity.

Nina joined Sage as an apprentice in 2021. Sitting her GCSE’s in the middle of a Global Pandemic was definitely an eye-opener! In her early years of secondary school Nina discovered a passion for business and media and knew they were skills she wanted to develop, so when she was faced with the decision of college, sixth form or an apprenticeship; sitting her exams so chaotically and relying on independent learning, covid quickly solidified the idea that Nina didn’t want to sit her A-levels traditionally. While college was considered, she sought a more practical way of learning, something traditional education couldn’t give her.

Still wanting to learn but seeking a new challenge, in January of 2021 Nina began looking for apprenticeships to move onto once her school career had finished. Combining her interest in business and media she applied here at Sage for a role in the Global Colleague Communications team and got the job! Sitting in the Corporate Affairs team, Nina has had some amazing opportunities and been exposed to so much she otherwise wouldn’t have been. Making the most of it, Nina has since excelled, not just in her role but within the community! She is always one of the first to volunteer even when her own workload is full and has gained excellent rapport with her peers and particularly the early careers team.

Entering the working world with the pandemic still ongoing, making those human connections and learning semi independently was something Nina initially struggled to navigate. Still only being 16 it was something she had never experienced before and that definitely bought its own set of challenges to overcome.

However, with the rise of hybrid working in a post-covid world and the huge support from Sage as a company, she has been able to get involved in a variety of events from really pushing herself to present in online ‘day in the life’ workshops to other aspiring apprentices and young people looking to begin their career to in person events, such as Sage’s recent brand relaunch and functional offsites. Growing these connections are invaluable to Nina’s career, especially being in a communications role.

The Early Careers Team know they can rely on Nina whenever support is required. She has just signed up to buddy up with one of our 2022 apprentices and we know they’re guaranteed to be in good hands!
